Bali Story is something I had wanted to create for a very long time, however, didn’t have the finances or know-how. Fast forward a few years, I had a bad horse riding accident, fracturing my L1. Right amid covid as well.

It was during this time I started thinking about what would happen to my kids if I weren’t around?

I am a single mum to 2 beautiful children, however, they are not my biological children. How you ask? I have been a foster carer for children in out-of-home care for over 10 years. 1 is a permanent care child (similar to adoption) my beautiful daughter Tori, who has disabilities and the other is a high-needs non-verbal autistic boy, who has been with us for a number of years.

So I created Bali Story to build a future for them, hopefully, to provide them with a secure financial future, also so that should they need employment in the future that can be adapted to their needs, they will always have a place to go to for a job.

My vision is to eventually be in a position to provide employment opportunities for more than just my children with disabilities, but others within the community who struggle to find employment, just because they are a little different.
My second reason for creating Bali story is friends and connections I had made over the years whilst traveling Bali who were doing it tough through the pandemic, I didn’t have money to just donate or give to them, so I started thinking about their skill sets and what they could make in return for a wage, many of these people had returned to their home villages out of necessity and are very poor villages at that.
So Bali Story gets to help build a future for kids with special needs and help some wonderful craftsmen and women in Bali.
I always refer to Bali Story as “our” artisans and “our” team, because without my kids and the wonderful craftsmanship from the Balinese, there would be no Bali Story!
